8.0 Bar extends lease in Sundance Square five years

Restaurant to add innovative canopy over patio

As spring weather arrives, our thoughts turn to lunch or happy hour on the patio. And 8.0 Bar in Sundance Square is preparing the best outdoor patio in town for guests. As part of 8.0’s recent five-year extension on its lease, Sundance Square has designed a unique new cover for the patio.

“The lightweight and semitransparent covering was designed to provide protection from rain and the elements while offering some shade,” explained Johnny Campbell, president and CEO of Sundance Square. “ The canopy will not interfere with the trees, but will protect the patio from rain, allowing 8.0 to book performers on the patio without the fear of weather cancellations.”

Construction of the new canopy will begin within the next several weeks and is expected to be completed in April. The patio will remain open throughout the construction.

8.0 Bar has been in Sundance Square 15 years. There are more than 20 full-service restaurants in Sundance Square, one of the country’s leading mixed-use developments. More than half of these full-service restaurants have been in Sundance Square an average of 14.7 years.

"We opened with a bang in 1995, and have not slowed down since,” said Shannon Wynne, renowned restaurateur and owner of 8.0 Bar and the Flying Saucer Draft Emporium. “ The new canopy will afford us the opportunity to showcase live music without fear of bad weather. I think it will be a major hot spot for outdoor SuperBowl events."

8.0 offers a wide range of lunch and dinner items ranging from blue plate specials and burgers to Tex Mex and Funky Fettucine Alfredo, featuring blackened chicken, andouille sausage, mushrooms, black olives, peppers and onions in a creamy sauce. 8.0 also has an extensive wine list, as well as a specialty drink menu and live music or a DJ nightly.
