Thelonious Monk was truly one-of-a-kind in jazz. His melodies long perceived by musicians and audiences alike to be 'weird' and beyond the understanding of most mortals - have become 'mainstream' jazz material. There has probably been far more recorded covers of his music since his death in 1982 than during his lifetime. There is finally a musical group devoted entirely to Monk's music. Named 'Evidence' (after Monk's piece of the same name), the group was founded by jazz pianist/composer/arranger Dave Zoller and includes saxophonist Pete Gallio, double bassist Jonathan Fisher and drummer Woody Berner. Showtime is 9 p.m.
